Bataua oil, also known as patawa oil or seje oil, is extracted from the fruit of the Bataua palm (Oenocarpus bataua), which is native to the Amazon and other tropical regions. It is a versatile oil that is often used for skin care, hair care, and culinary applications.

DIY Moisturizing Cream with Bataua Oil
This cream is suitable for face or body care and can also be used as a nourishing hair mask.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons Bataua oil
1 tablespoon coconut oil (for extra hydration)
1 tablespoon shea butter (for a creamy texture)
5 drops of essential oil of your choice (e.g. lavender for a soothing scent)
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (for longer shelf life and extra skin nutrition)
Supplies
Bowl for mixing Small pan or glass bowl for a bain-marie Jar or bottle to store the cream in Method Melt the solid ingredients Place the shea butter and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl and melt over a low heat in a bain-marie. Stir until completely melted.
Add the Bataua oil Remove the bowl from the heat and add the Bataua oil. Stir well so that the ingredients mix.
Add Vitamin E and Essential Oil Once the mixture has cooled slightly (but is still liquid), add the Vitamin E oil and essential oil. Stir again.
Let it stiffen
Pour the mixture into a clean jar or bottle. Let it set in the fridge for about 1 hour.
Usage
For skin: Massage a small amount into skin. Ideal after showering or before bed. For hair: Apply a thin layer to the ends of hair or use as a mask by distributing it all over hair. Leave on for 30 minutes and then rinse.
Tips
Store the cream in a cool, dark place to maintain its quality. Use a clean spatula or spoon to remove the cream from the jar to extend its shelf life.
